Jessica began working as an employee of WSMC Classical 90.5 in 2002 as a freshman at Southern Adventist University. She worked as an announcer and hosted Classics By Request for three years before taking a one-year hiatus to work as a student missionary in El Salvador. When she returned, she worked for another year as an announcer and then graduated from Southern with a major in Public Relations and a minor in English.

While serving as an assistant teacher in El Salvador, Jessica decided she wanted to pursue higher education in the field of English, concentrating in literary studies. When a position opened up as office manager for WSMC in the summer of 2007, it seemed like a natural fit for her. Working at WSMC is helping Jessica pay her way through obtaining a master’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
When she is not at WSMC or studying, Jessica loves to cook desserts, take dance classes with her fiancé, read fantasy novels, draw people, lift weights at the gym, and train for triathlons.
Jessica is a native of Chattanooga, but her heart is in the mountains and she hopes to migrate to the magnificent west as soon her education allows. She dreams of living in Colorado, in sight of the Rocky Mountains, and plans on hiking up Mt. Elbert (Colorado’s highest mountain), as well as biking up the highest paved road in the United States that snakes up Mt. Evans (also in CO).
As office manager of WSMC, Jessica is responsible for a variety of jobs. In addition to answering phones and the corporate email, she maintains and updates content on the website, she supervises and works with the student announcers, she scripts public service announcements for the air, she edits acquisition letters, organizes mass mailings, processes underwriting and donor checks, and unofficially, is the official baker who treats the staff to her sweet culinary experiments.
